But, its really not fair to you guys or to us to even try to co-exist on your boards...we've grown too close and chummy, and tend to go too far out in our conversations to expect tolerance from anyone, you know? I don't think this solution was ideal, but I do think it was the best, most realistic solution available at the time, and remains so in retrospect.Quote:

In the annuls of Spawn.com history, from before the advent of UBB, even before the Spheres of Hell Contests, this community was taking root. A community. You can't deny that no other toy manufacturer - dare I say no other .com website - could come close to the online "family" that came together then and still thrives today. A great deal of what contributed to that sense of family was the freedom we were granted to share all of our common interests - not just toys - on a single forum. Unfortunately, as the family grew, snooty inlaws and cross-bred hillbilly third cousins started turning out in droves, too. It was like Spawn.com was the powerball jackpot we'd won, and hundreds of long-lost relatives were suddenly showing up at the doorstep to be our best friends for a stake of the booty. Others came to try and rain on our parade and some of us reacted badly over the years. The family has been dysfunctional at times, but the core is strong. By the sheer numbers that visit there now, it would be impossible to recreate the community in the same way. Spawn.com will always be home, but as with any family, the kids have had to move away. Sure, most of us still visit, especially around the holidays (Toyfest), and of course we'll always love Mom & Pop (Dion and Steve, et al staff...maybe even Todd), but our old rooms feel so tiny now, and we have lives outside of the family.
So, prune the family tree. Just don't go turning it into a telephone pole.

People are complaining about the posters to McF. That would compare to you going to the preacher and discussing issues you had with what other people in the church are saying/doing, which is a perfectly valid course of action.

I'm willing to rationally discuss anything with anyone at any time. But some people feel like the Internet empowers them to, frankly, act like assholes. That's all well and good, but when you're trying to build a respectful community, those folks give everyone a bad name.
Seriously, none of us give a whit about Neca or Sota or whatever. They do their thing, we do out thing and it's all good. But not one damn good thing has ever come about as the result of a McF vs. Neca post on spawn.com. Not one.
And by allowing the combativeness to continue, we're only ignoring the root cause of the problem. That a certain segment of the population wants to do nothing but but start fights. They'll be rooted out.

My point of view:
It's their board, they can decide their rules. I love Spawn.com for all the information they provide to customers. But the toy board have changed, at least for me, it's too crowded today.....
At the end of the day McFarlane owns the spawn.com bandwidth and they have every right to establish whatever rule they want with it.
